Progress at what Cost

Today we saw 'The President is Coming'. I recommend everyone to see it. What a statement on the India of today. Everyone wanting to progress....at any cost, elbowing and trampling others ...moral or immoral... they don't care.

We had seen Slum Dog Millionaire last week. Again a strong representation of the open wounds of Indian society.

Ethical Leaders...role models are missing....

Many have requested me to write on Satyam...in a way my new year poem refers to it in brief, but will write soon.

Milagrow De-addiction

At Milagrow we take 2 block breaks every year of about 10 days each. First one during summers, at the end of June and second one during the winters, Christmas onwards. It is our way of 'Milagrow de-addiction'.

This winter we had both Saksham and Samarth coming home for holidays and the family was complete. We all met my parents, Shobha's parents and the entire extended family...lunches dinners et all.

We met my friends from the 12th standard...some of us were meeting after 26 years....it took us just 2 minutes to rediscover the old lingo to the bewilderment of our spouses...

Saw a lot of movies Jis Desh me Ganga Behti Hai, Taxi Driver, Slum Dog Millionaire, Ghajini, Rab ne Bana Di Jodi...

Went to Chandni Chowk, ate at Karims, traveled on the Delhi metro, Cycle Rickshaws....

Did not reply to mails and messages of new year...just wanted to break free a bit...

Wrote my new year poem...enjoyed the winter sun, munched mungfalis(peanuts), hogged on saag and makki di roti....

And of course a little bit of enjoyable work.

A perfect holiday...I think.

My gratitude to my family, friends, colleagues and clients without whom these breaks can not be so enjoyable.

The Future Beckons

I write a poem at the beginning of every new year. The one for 2008 was an ode to the entrepreneurial spirit.

The Future Beckons

Don't forever think!

It's time to do what you didn't?
Make new beginnings, may be start a new Venture?
Go ahead embark on a new Adventure

Don't blink,
If you want your dreams not to sink!

Before you realize it will be end 2008 man
Many have ideas, but money chases a good plan

Inspire! Lead from the front & demonstrate courage
'People follow leaders', goes the old adage

Right values, ethics and focus are three pillars of a sustainable brand
They help build success that is sustainable and grand

Venture my friend, this new year,
Embark on a new adventure

Don't blink, don't forever think.

Nine will be Fine

I write a poem every new year and this year too could not have passed without me writing one. Here it goes...

2008 started with easy double digit growths in sight,
Even in 2009, the diligent will get there without much fight.

With the financial meltdown many felt hopelessly letdown,
Creed of greed is incorrigible they say,
Pretty old lessons learnt the hard way.

Friends murdered, Extremists massacred,
Parents killed children and children took revenge,
Politicians shot innocent just for a birthday present,
The common man wonders as to how shall he avenge?

Into the murky waters the Army was dragged, even as some of its officers fragged,
Statesmanship and diplomacy seemed buried, thankfully only to temporary rest,
For today's young minds is exposure better or protection is best?

Landing on the moon did India proud & the nation passed a few other tests,
Not all was lost as the 'strong' inspired us to peaceful conquests,
Wins from boxing, shooting, wrestling, chess, badminton and the cricket blade
reminded us that we had some remarkable achievements even in 2008.

'Satya' laws of nature no one defy,
Ethics and faith must be trusted, they keep you grounded yet make you pierce the sky.

A stitch in time will save nine,
Think ahead, take charge, do justice to what is 'mine'

For the 'righteous' 2009 is gonna be fine.
